Day 1Full Day Ausangate 7 Lagoons Hike – Itinerary

Early Morning Pickup and Drive
Our Samex Tours Peru team will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 – 5:00 am. We will then take a scenic 3-hour drive to the Pacchanta community, where you’ll enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast, preparing you for an exciting day ahead.

Start of the Hike
At approximately 8:00 – 8:30 am, you’ll begin your uphill hike at a leisurely pace, immersing yourself in the scenic beauty of the Vilcabamba mountain range. As you stroll through the region, your expert guide will share fascinating insights about the seven vibrant lagoons and towering snow-capped peaks.

Enjoy the serene atmosphere, take plenty of photos, and marvel at the colorful lakes and the awe-inspiring landscapes. Along the way, keep an eye out for local wildlife, including llamas and alpacas, who are always eager to pose for a selfie!

Lunch and Relaxation
After completing the 6-hour hike, you will head back to the Pacchanta community for a freshly prepared, nourishing lunch. Once you’ve replenished your energy, take the opportunity to relax in the hot spring pools, the perfect way to unwind and reward yourself after an unforgettable day of exploration.

Return to Cusco
At around 15:00 – 15:30 pm, you will board your transport back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 18:30 pm, reflecting on the incredible adventure you’ve just experienced.

Recommendations

Acclimatize in Cusco: It is recommended to be in Cusco at least 2 days prior to the trek to properly acclimatize to the altitude.
Take short walks: Before the trek, consider taking short walks in Cusco or booking a city tour, Sacred Valley, Maras Salt Mines, Moray, Chinchero, or other local excursions to help with acclimatization.
Altitude sickness prevention: Take pills to avoid altitude sickness before and upon arrival in Cusco. Coca tea is also a great natural remedy to help with acclimatization.
Wear proper hiking clothing: Ensure you have the right gear, including trekking shoes and thermal clothing for comfort during the hike.
